CPI wants HMR works in Old city completed fast

Hyderabad: CPI senior leader K Narayana has demanded that the Metro Rail Construction works expedited in the Old City.
Narayana visited the Falaknuma Metro Depot spot in Old City along with CPI Hyderabad City secretary ET Narasimha and others on Thursday. Speaking to the media later, Narayana alleged the State government’s sincerity towards development of the Old City would be revealed with the yet to be started Metro Works in Old City. He asked the government to tell what reason behind the non-start of Metro works in Old City though the works were in full swing across the city.
He said that the Chief Minister kept the proposal of Metro Rail route from Darul Shafa to Falaknuma via Meeralam Mandi, Shalibanda, Aliyabad, Shamshergunj, aside due to the pressure mount by some political leaders, who thought that their assets will go in the proposal. In second proposal, the officials prepared a route from Falaknuma to MGBS via Shamsheergunj, Bahadurpura, Puranapul suggested by the Chief Minister. But the works not yet launched even in this route, he said and asked the government to tell the people the reason behind it though the works in other places were in full swing. There was no change in the governments’ attitude even after the formation of the separate Telangana state, he alleged.
The government has kept the Metro Rail Project in Old City with pressure mount by one political party, he said and alleged that the rulers were keeping Old City at bay with votes-seats politics resulting in several troubles to the people. He asked the state government to develop the Old City taking up Metro Rail works immediately.
CPI City secretary ET Narasimha said that it was unfortunate that the Old City was not developing even in separate Telangana state. The same negligence, which took place in united Andhra Pradesh state, was taking place in regard to Old City development, he alleged. (NSS)
