CPI wants all mandals in State declared drought hit

Telangana State Council of Communist Party of India has proposed to the State government to announce all mandals in the State as drought affected and initiate relief measures on a war footing.

 

CPI State secretary Chada Venkat Reddy addressed a letter to Chief Minster K Chandrasekhar Rao in this regard on Wednesday. He stated that the CPI leaders have visited various districts from April 16 to 19 and prepared proposals to submit to the State government. He also asked the State government to extend ex-gratia to the farmers, who lost their crops during Kharif along with crop insurance amount. He said the government must pay Rs 20,000 per acre compensation for paddy crop losers and Rs 15,000 per acre to others, who lost tomato, cabbage and cauliflower crops.

The CPI leader demanded that the State government clear arrears of NREGS and increase daily wage to Rs 300 to the NREGS workers. The government also must increase the NREGS working days from 100 days to 200. He also demanded that the government pay Rs 2 lakh ex gratia to the families of farmers, who have committed suicide and who died due to sun stroke. (NSS)
