Chandrapur: Lauding Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh for opposing India-Pakistan World T20 match in Dharamsala, Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray has said that cricket matches with Pakistan should not be allowed to continue while bombs are being hurled at the security forces at the border.
The Shiv Sena chief , speaking at an event in Chandrapur, compared cricket balls with bombs, saying that both cannot take place at the same time.
“Biggest question is do we need to play sports with country (Pakistan) which has back-stabbed India?” he asked.
“When jawans at border will look behind and see that they’ve bombs in their hands while others have ball with which they are playing with Pakistan, either throw ball or we’ll throw bomb, both cannot take place at same time… We don’t want to play such dangerous games,” he added.
Meanwhile, the Pakistan cricket team arrived at the Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose (NSCB) International Airport in Kolkata this evening after getting a green signal from Islamabad to take part in the ICC World T20 tournament.
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee gave a written assurance of ‘foolproof security’ to the Pakistan squad.
The ICC has already moved Pakistan’s group match against India to Kolkata on March 19 due to security concerns in Dharamsala. (ANI)
