Cricket fraternity congratulates India on Test series win against England

New Delhi [India]: The Virat Kohli-led side received a flurry of wishes from the cricketing fraternity after they crushed England by an innings and 36 runs in the fourth Test to take an unassailable 3-0 lead in the five-match Test series here at the Wankhede Stadium on Monday.

Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) president Anurag Thakur took to micro blogging website Twitter to wish the Indian team after their comprehensive series win.

“What a win by #TeamIndia securing the series comprehensively. Heartiest congrats to @imVkohli @anilkumble1074 and entire team. @BCCI,” Thakur tweeted.

Congratulating team India for their emphatic triumph, former batsman VVS Laxman praised the team’s approach during the crucial match.

“Congratulations Team India on a emphatic win??Luv the approach of this team-positive,aggressive&determined?? Keep it up boys?? #IndvsEng @BCCI-VVS laxman,” he wrote on Twitter.

Legendary cricketer Sachin Tendulkar also congratulated India for winning the series against England with full dominance before also asking them to go for 4-0 finish.

Fellow team-mate Cheteshwar Pujara tweeted, “Great win boys, thoroughly enjoyed the series, one more to go guys ???? @BCCI.

Admitting that Team India have displayed some `fantastic cricket`, BCCI senior official Rajeev Shukla praised Kohli, rookie Jayant Yadav and off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin for their brilliant contributions.

“Congrats #TeamIndia for the Comprehensive match win & the Test series victory.

Fantastic cricket @imVkohli @ashwinravi99 &young Jayant Yadav,” Shukla wrote on Twitter.

“Big big congratulations to the boys and support staff for clinching the series. Home season so far has been brilliant,” Indian opener Rohit Sharma said.

The fourth Test match witnessed an all-round performance from the Indian side.

While scorching knocks by Kohli (235) and Jayant Yadav (104) helped India post a respectable first-innings total of 631 runs in reply to the opposition’s total of 400, off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin’s 24th five-wicket haul and seventh 10-wicket helped the hosts bundle out England for 195 runs in their second innings.

Kohli, who was declared `Man of the Match`, became the first Indian skipper to score three double-tons in Test cricket. It was his first double century in Tests against England. He reached the milestone in 302 balls with 23 fours but no sixes

India, who are now unbeaten for 17 matches in the longest format of the game, will now play the dead rubber fifth Test match against England beginning on December 16 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. (ANI)
