Cricketers flayed for opposing Tamils brave sport jallikkatu

Coimbatore: Cricketers Virat Kohli and Shikar Dhawan today came in for sharp criticism for raising their voices against Tamil’s traditional sport, Jallikkattu (tamiing the bull).

Condemning their endorsement through PETA campaign against this bull sport, nearly 25 members of Tamil Nadu Rekhla Club, assembled at the district collectorate to represent the Collector, on seeking to revoke the ban.

When the Centre and leaders from Tamil Nadu were taking efforts to revoke the ban imposed by Supreme Court last year, the campaign by a few film actors and cricketers was condemnable, Jayaprakash, treasurers of the Club said.

Defying the ban, the club will conduct Jallikkatu in villages in the district, he said.
