Dalit shot at for taking water from government tube well

Amva village, UP: A dalit youth was shot and injured for taking water from a government tube well in Amva village, Chauri, UP, triggering clashes between two groups.

Vinod Yadav, Chauri police, said “The incident occurred in Amva village in Chauri area when Pankaj Dhaikar wanted to take water from a government tubewell and Kailash Pathak prevented him, leading to a clash.”

People from both sides gathered and indulged in brick batting and clashed with sticks, Pathak shot at Dhaikar and fled from the spot.

Dhaikar sustained bullet injuries and was rushed to a hospital, where his condition is stated to be stable. An FIR has been lodged in this regard and a manhunt has been launched to apprehend the accused.
