New Delhi: A three-member team of National Commission of Women (NCW) today visited Kerala in connection with the alleged rape and murder of a 30-year-old Dalit woman in Perumbavoor. The team met Inspector General, Director General of Police and Superintendent of Police (Rural), and also the family members of the victim.

“Our team visited the family and the place where the incident took place. A report will be submitted soon in this regard,” a senior NCW official said. He said the team is doing a wholistic probe on the steps taken by the administration and the police.

“We are probing on all aspects of the ongoing investigation to see what steps have been taken by the government and the police since it involves a Dalit women,” he said.

The law student was allegedly subjected to rape and brutal assault using sharp-edged weapons before being murdered on April 28. She was found dead in a pool of blood at her one-room home at 8 PM on the same day, by her mother when she returned from work.
