A decomposed body of ten-day-old baby found on roof in Chennai

Chennai: A decomposed body of a ten-day-old boy was found on the asbestos roof of a house in Tondiarpet on Tuesday.

Investigating the matter led to the tracing of the mother of the deceased baby, who was studying in class 11 in a nearby Government school. Further, it came out that the girl was impregnated by her 23-year-old neighbor. However, the girl’s parents claimed they were not aware of their daughter being pregnant.

It was late at night on Tuesday when the residents suspected the foul smell and later informed Police about it. The deceased body was later sent to the Government Stanley Medical College Hospital for an autopsy.

“The parents maintain that they were not aware that the girl was pregnant. They had taken her to a nearby clinic, where it was not diagnosed either. The parents were of the impression that she had menstrual health problems,” an investigating officer said.

The girl’s father is a casual labourer and the mother a domestic help. Tondiarpet Police will be further investigating the matter.

According to the Police the girl had abortion and delivered the foetus in the bathroom on May 28.
Police have filed a case against the neighbor Ravi who was a 23 yr old truck driver under POCSO Act. He remanded to judicial custody after being produced before the court, as reported in DC.
