Delay in providing 12% reservations to Muslims creates anxiety

Hyderabad: A grand public meeting was held at SV Hotel Conference Hall at Bhongir on 4th March for demanding 12% reservation for Muslims. Mr. Zahid Ali Khan, Editor of Siasat Urdu Daily presided over the meeting. Mr. Aziz Pasha, former CPI MP of Rajya Sabha, noted lawyer, Mr. Osman Shaheed, Advocate, Mr. Osman bin Mohammed Al-Hajri, Mr. Azmathullah Khan, Retired DSP, Mr. Muneer Pateel, State General Secretary of Insaaf Organization and Mr. Syed Kaleemuddin Askar attended the meeting. The meeting was also addressed by Harijan leader, Mr. B. Ramachandraya, Congress leader, Mr. Satyanarayana and TDP leader, Mr. Iqbal Chowdry.

The delay on the part of Govt. in providing 12% reservation to Muslims created anxiety among the Muslims. A demand was made to overcome legal hurdles in this case.

It was mentioned that the Muslims voted TRS believing the promise of Mr. KCR but even after the lapse of three years, Govt. did not fulfill its promise.

Mr. Zahid Ali Khan informed that Mr. Chandrababu Naidu had promised 4% reservations but Congress announced 5% reservations. These cases are still pending to the Supreme Court. He further told that if BCs Commission had been formed earlier, the matter would not have been prolonged. He said that we have been demanding it for the past three years. It is not a new demand. It is only the fulfillment of the promise which Mr. KCR had made. By delaying tactics of the TRS Govt., the intentions of the Govt. are becoming suspicious. There is no hurdle in allotting 12% houses in double bedroom scheme and recruitment of teachers in Minorities Residential Schools.

Mr. Zahid Ali Khan also informed that due to the acquisition of wakf properties for Outer Ring Road alone, 1100 acres of Wakf land was taken which resulted in losing Rs. 2 lakh crore. Referring to Sachar Committee Report, Mr. Zahid Ali Khan told that the economic condition of the Muslims is worse than dalits. If the Muslims vote judiciously in UP elections, it will be a favour for the entire Muslims of the entire country.

Mr. Aziz Pasha told that in Delhi, Kolkata and Hyderabad there are many wakf properties. 80% of them were destroyed due to the negligence of Govt. officials and Mutawallis and the remaining 15% are facing danger. The communist Govt. of West Bengal passed a stringent law which allows the Govt. to imprison the illegal possessors of Wakf lands for 6 months.

Mr. Osman Shaheed told that the Muslims have been facing difficulties right from 1947. He blamed the Muslims for their mistakes. He condemned the statement made by Ms. Kavita, MP on Alair encounter and Muslim reservations.

Mr. Osman bin Al-Hajri advised the Muslims to struggle for the protection of wakf properties and to create awareness in collaboration with Dalits within the jurisdiction of law.
