New Delhi: With the army taking control of Munak Canal in Haryana, Delhi water minister Kapil Mishra on Monday expressed hope that water supply could be partially restored by late evening in the national capital.
The Delhi minister took to Twitter saying, “Great that DJB team managed today morning exceptionally. No panic situation anywhere.
Water supply can be partially restored by late evening.” H e also informed that the Delhi Jal Board team is on its way to the Munak Canal, which was earlier taken under seize by the members of the Jat community, protesting for their demand of reservation in government jobs.
Meanhwhile, an urgent meeting is underway at Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia’s residence. The Supreme Court today would be hearing Delhi government’s petition seeking Centre’s intervention for the uninterrupted supply of water. The areas affected due to the closure of plants are West Delhi, North-West, Central, South and part of North Delhi.
“Against the total production of 820 Million Gallons per day (MGD) of potable water, only 240 MGD is being produced, because of the disruption of the supply source from Haryana. DJB’s tanker fleet has been fully redirected to the water deficient areas. The situation at Wazirabad is being constantly monitored.
In this emergent situation, the people of Delhi are requested to use water with the utmost care,” a statement by the Delhi Jal Board said.
