Delhi Police arrests two alleged gunrunners

New Delhi: The Delhi Police has arrested two alleged gunrunners with 40 semi-automatic pistols, claiming to have busted an inter-state arms smuggling racket.

Deepak Kumar Saha (35) and Sajid (34) were arrested by the Crime Branch. Under the racket, the weapons were smuggled from Bihar and Madhya Pradesh to the national capital, DCP (Crime) Madhur Verma said.

The gang, which had been operating for the many years, had supplied more than 300-400 illegal weapons to several NCR-based gangsters and criminals.

In the recent past, several incidents of firing had taken place in Delhi. During an analysis of these cases, it emerged that the firearms are being smuggled from Bihar and Madhya Pradesh by several gangs.

On April 29, the two accused were arrested when they had come to deliver the 40 semi-automatic pistols in Delhi.

Saha was arrested last year as well by the Crime Branch while supplying 20 illegal weapons. Sajid came in contact with Saha about six months ago.
