Lashing out at the TRS government for its alleged failure to fulfil the promises made to farmers in the state, AICC General Secretary Digvijay Singh on Tuesday said that most of the KCR’s promises were mere a farce.
Addressing the ‘Rythu Garjana’ public meeting in Adilabad, Digvijay Singh said that Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao made U-turn on most of the promises made to the ryots. He alleged that the State Government had promised to waive off the loans of farmers but it failed in doing so as per the promise. He said that re-designing of the irrigation projects has increased the financial burden on the common people and alleged that it was done only to gain commissions through it. He further said that KCR’s promise to provide reservations to the Muslims and Tribals also remained a mirage and he was dilly dallying on the issue.

TPCC president N Uttam Kumar Reddy alleged that KCR changed his stance on farmers’ loan waiver immediately after coming to power. He said that the manifesto promise was to release the complete loan amount at time but after coming to power he changed it with to be released in four instalments. However, due to delay in third installment now nearly 25 lakh pass books of farmers were lying with banks and several women farmers were forced to mortgage their jewellery with banks, he said.
Uttam Kumar Reddy said that no bank was offering loans for the farmers who were due to the banks. He alleged that the input subsidy provided by the Central Government was not utilized by the State Government. He said that during Congress regime, projects were constructed for the welfare of Adilabad district. But TRS Government was redesigning those projects leading to severe injustice to the district, he alleged.
Leaders of Opposition K. Jana Reddy (Assembly) and Mohammed Ali Shabbir (Council), TPCC Working President Mallu Bhatti Vikaramarka, party legislators and other senior leaders also addressed the meeting. (INN)
