Doctor’s firing case transferred to CCS

Hyderabad: Director General of Police (DGP) Anurag Sharma on Monday transferred the Himayatnagar doctor’s shoot-out case to Central Crime Station (CCS), Hyderabad, following a request by Kanthi, wife of the deceased Dr Shashi Kumar.

The DGP directed the heads of both Commissionerates to transfer the case to CCS in the interest of brevity, clarity and to expedite the investigation

The shooting incident took place in Narayanguda under Hyderabad Commissionerate and the suicide in Moinabad under Cyberabad Commissionerate. Till now, both Commissionerates were handing the case in their own way. But, on the request of Kanthi to put both cases under one investigating agency, the DGP directed the heads of both Commissionerates to transfer the case to CCS in the interest of brevity, clarity and to expedite the investigation.

The shooting incident at Himayatnagar under Narayanguda Police Station limits was registered under Section 307 (Attempt to murder) of the IPC and the Arms Act after Dr Shashi Kumar opened fire at Dr Rachokonda Uday, his business partner, on February 8. After injuring Dr Uday, Dr Shashi went to his friend Chandrakala’s house and asked her to drop him at her farmhouse at Nakkapally under Moinabad Police Station limits where he allegedly committed suicide with the same weapon.

A different case had been registered at Moinabad Police Station. Police sources said that CCS sleuths were awaiting FSL reports on both the cases to start the probe.
