Doctors threaten to go on strike

Aurangabad: The Maharashtra Association of Resident Doctors (MARD) has threatened to go on indefinite strike from Tuesday morning if the police fails to nab three accused who are allegedly involved in beating up doctors after the death of a patient, a police official said here today.

He said that an 80-year-old patient Syed Khwaja Moinuddin was admitted to the Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) on Sunday night, after which his condition deteriorated and he passed away.

His relatives alleged dereliction of duty by doctors and beat up a doctor on duty.

MARD president Vikram Rathod filed a police complaint with the Begumpura police and threatened that if the three prime accused are not arrested within 24 hours, MARD would go on a strike from Tuesday morning.

Investigating officer Assistant Police Inspector V G Gawali said that a hunt is on to nab the accused, including a former corporator.
