‘We don’t feel need to denigrate our heroes’: Tharoor

New Delhi: Former union minister Shashi Tharoor on Monday downplayed criticism of former prime minister Jawaharlal Nehru and Congress president Sonia Gandhi in party mouthpiece ‘Congress Darshan’, saying the grand old party does not feel the need to denigrate any of its heroes.

“Our great national leaders have had a lot of accomplishments. We should not feel any need to denigrate any one of our heroes. What they accomplished is what we are living today,” Tharoor told ANI.

“Congress is focused on tomorrow, why these people are focused on yesterday? History is about the great national heroes. Our freedom is their legacy,” he added.

In the December issue of ‘Congress Darshan’, questions have been raised on Jawaharlal Nehru’s decision for the state of affairs in Kashmir, China and Tibet.

The article clearly states that Nehru should have listened to freedom fighter and former home minister Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s views on international affairs.

It also criticised Sonia Gandhi and said her father was a fascist soldier. (ANI)
