Don’t think my potential will ever be tapped: Soha

Mumbai: Actress Soha Ali Khan says she is mostly offered films, which are hard-hitting and realistic, and feels that filmmakers are yet to tap her potential.

“I am offered more gritty and thinking roles but I do enjoy it. I like performance-oriented roles. I don’t have an agenda as far as acting is concerned. I want to do films that have good content,” Soha told PTI.

“I don’t think my potential will ever be tapped but that’s ok. I want to work with good directors, I don’t know if I will get that opportunity. Also I don’t know if I will get to do a negative role or a biopic. I want to do these things,” she said.

Soha entertained the audience with her performances in films like “Rang De Basanti”, “Tum Mile”, “Khoya Khoya Chand” and others. The 37-year-old actress insists she has not consciously stayed away from commercial cinema.

“When you do certain kind of films, you are offered more those kind of films. I am offered more content driven films or that has social message. I have done some entertaining films but these offers are less,” she said.

“It’s not a conscious decision that I won’t do commercial films as these films have good budget, you look good,” she said.

But Soha enjoys watching commercial entertainers where one can shut their mind off and relax after a tough day.

“Cinema is suppose to entertain you and not educate you,” she opines.

Being the daughter of veteran actress Sharmila Tagore and acclaimed cricketer late Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi, Soha feels she is good both in acting and sports.

“I am a better actor than a cricketer. But I am a good sportsman. I don’t know if acting is inherent, you become comfortable in front of camera. One learns acting while doing films,” she said.

The “Sahab Biwi Aur Gangster Returns” actress doesn’t believe in working hard all throughout her life and she wants to enjoy life as well.

Soha will be seen next in “31st October” opposite Vir Das. Based on the aftermath of Indira Gandhi assassination, the film is set to release on October 7.
