Don’t wear short skirts, adopt salwar kameez: TRS woman MLA advises school girls

Hyderabad: Konda Surekha, a woman legislator of the ruling TRS Samiti has suggested that ‘short dresses’ should be replaced with salwar kameez as school uniform especially for girls in Class 10.

“Short skirts must be avoided as school uniforms and instead dresses like Salwar Kameez which covers the body fully should be introduced,” said Surekha.

During a debate on sexual harassment, the legislator from Warangal East constituency said: “Many schools have short dresses for girls as uniforms. The government should implement a dress code to replace these short dresses with salwar kameez.”

She also suggested that strong action should be taken against harassers. “We should ensure that such students don’t get admission in any school,” she said.

The name of the offender should be blacklisted so that they cannot get job anywhere else. Even the government employees should be penalised if accused in sexual harassment cases.
