A 26-year-old woman committed suicide allegedly due to harassment for additional dowry by her husband.
The deceased, Bharathi, resorted to the extreme step by setting herself ablaze at her residence in NTR Nagar of Bhupalpally on October 8. She was admitted to Osmania General Hospital for treatment where she died on Tuesday night. According to Gachibowli police, Bharathi’s husband Guru Murthy used to allegedly harass her for additional dowry. He also used to beat her up suspecting her fidelity. She took the extreme step after she was brutally beaten up by him. A case under Sections 498A and 396 IPC has been registered against Guru Murthy. (INN)
