DRDOs play key role in rural growth: Jupally

Panchayat Raj Minister Jupally Krishna Rao today said that DRDOs have to play key role in rural development to achieve self sufficiency.

Inaugurating a three-day orientation program along with Commissioner Nithu Prasad for DRDOs at TSIPARD the minister called upon them to coordinate with other wings to provide at least 100 working days for at least 60 per cent of families in rural areas. He expressed concern that despite seven decades of freedom the rural people are still deprived of fruits of development and common facilities and Telangana should be kept away such problem.

This is possible with active participation of DRDOs who should work in tandem with other departments to ensure the people get employment opportunities. Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao is planning to bring the poorest of the poor into mainstream by providing them work and tread towards golden Telangana path. It is time for the officials to work at that direction to reach out to the people in villages and help them develop gradually he said. The minister directed that the officials to provide pensions to the eligible and implement schemes for poverty alleviation and empower rural people. Stating that new programs will be implemented to reactivate women associations and involve them in government schemes to become success.

Steps being taken to provide employment opportunities through sanitation, compost preparation, construction of soak pits and other programs. The government will encourage the staff with incentives for productive work and take stringent measures for negligence he clarified. There is a need for publicity with pamphlets at each house and enable the people get work through involvement of village level staff. Panchayat Raj and Rural Development wings should work on par with other wings fetching good name to the government through power supply, industrial policy, Mission Bhagiratha to give potable water to rural people, lakes restoration to irrigate crops in villages.
