Drivers protest in Hyderabad as Uber slips on promised incentives

Hyderabad: Uber cab drivers will go on a day-long hunger strike on Friday to held protest accusing the company of dishonouring promises pertaining to incentives. Under the banner of Telangana Cabs and Bus Operators’ Association (TCBOA).

TCBOA president Syed Nizamuddin alleged Uber lured thousands of cab drivers by promising monthly income of about 70,000 but they were not able to earn more than 15,000 owing to drastic cut in incentives and number of trips. He said Now we are left with no option but agitate and decide the future course of agitation.

Most of the drivers, who were working with different cab operators, have quit their regular jobs and joined Uber with the hope of earning a good amount.

The Association members claimed that during the talks with drivers individually, the Uber management rejected their demands regarding incentives and business.

The spokesperson of Uber said that over 99 per cent of the ‘driver partners’ on its platform were doing very well.
