Drug racket probe: CM announces ₹ 1 lakh award for providing sale of drugs information

Hyderabad: CM of Telangana State, Mr. KCR has announced that anyone who provides information about the sale of drugs will be given be an award of ₹1 lakh. However, the drug addicts will not be treated as criminals. Instead, they will be considered as victims. Those who sell and supply drugs will be treated as criminals. They will be arrested and stern action would be taken against them.

CM convened a meeting of higher police officials at Pragathi Bhavan and reviewed the situation regarding drug menace and adulteration of food. The meeting was attended by DGP, Mr. Anurag Sharma, Commissioner of Hyderabad City Police, Mr. M. Mahendra Reddy, Director of Enforcement, Dept. of Excise, Mr. Akun Sabharwal, Commissioner of Excise, Mr. Chandravadan, IG of Intelligence, Mr. Naveen Chand, IG of Security, TKM Singh, Joint Commissioner of Police, Cyberabad, Shahnawaz Qasim and Mr. Tarun Joshi.

CM of TS contradicted that Telugu film industry is being targeted. He said that during the campaign started against adulteration of food the racket of drug addicts has been exposed in which information was received that some film personalities are drug addicts. 12 film personalities were identified and they are being interrogated. They are not being treated as culprits but as victims.

CM also told that sale and supply of drugs are crimes but using drugs is not a crime. The probe is being conducted to reach the roots of the crime so that drug menace could be eradicated.
