DSP arrested after Facebook post alleged BJP woman MLA ran sex racket from office

NEW DELHI: A Deputy Superintendent of Police rank officer was arrested on Saturday for allegedly posting derogatory comments on social media against a woman legislator of the ruling BJP.

Additional Director General of Police (CID) Anil Kumar Jha said Anjan Bora, posted as an Assistant Commandant of the 23rd Assam Police Battalion, was arrested and produced before a court, which granted him bail.

Bora had make objectionable comments on his Facebook page alleging that the BJP woman MLA was engaged in running the “body selling” business (sex trade) inside her office chamber in the Secretariat complex.

He pinpointed at the MLA by taking her surname. BJP has only two women MLAs in the Assam Assembly.

According to Indian Express, he had reportedly ruled out one of them by her surname, thus pinpointing at one particular legislator without naming her.

The present Assam Assembly has altogether eight women MLAs, of whom three belong to the Congress, two to the Bodoland People’s Front (BPF) and one to the AGP, besides two of the BJP.

Following this, the BJP lodged a complaint and the Assam Police registered a case against the DSP.

Bora is known for posting such controversial statements on social media. The officer in February 2016 had posted controversial comments on Facebook in which he vowed to put a ban on ‘Azaan’ inciting hatred towards the community.

The officer got himself suspended for a brief period for posting hate speech on his Facebook wall.
