Hyderabad: Dy. CM of Telangana State, Mr. Mahmood Ali, made a key role in maintaining Muslim names of the proposed new districts. CM also did not accept any pressure in this regard. Mr. Mahmood Ali holds the portfolio of Revenue Dept. as Revenue Minister, he had released the draft proposal for the formation of 17 new districts. He is also the member of High Level Committee to review the formation of four more new districts.
People have expressed their opinions on the website prepared by Govt. More than 1 lakh suggestions have been received, some of them are to change the names of new districts but Mr. Mahmood Ali opposed the change of names of Vikharabad, Mahboobabad and Asifabad. He maintained that out of the present 10 districts of Telangana State more than half have Muslim names. If Muslim names are maintained in the new districts, it will reflect Hindu-Muslim united and Ganga-Jamuna Civilization. It will send a positive message to the Muslims of this State about TRS. The members of the committee referred to the proposals of the people for changing the names of new districts with some other names but Mr. Mahmood Ali did not accept their contentions.
