E-tickets worth Rs 1.52 lakh obtained illegally seized

Mumbai: Western Railway (WR) has confiscated 81 e-tickets worth Rs 1.52 lakh which were booked fraudulently by touts.

The e-tickets were seized during preventive checks conducted at various locations in Vasai and Kandivali, WR said in a release today.

“On the basis of information, preventive checks were conducted by the Anti-Tout Squad along with RPF at Ramdeo Tours and Travels in Vasai and Rudra Money Transfer at Kandivali.

“During the checks, it was found that several e- tickets were illegally generated by touts and sold to passengers at premium. A case has been registered against all the accused under Section 143 of Railway Act and further legal proceedings initiated against them,” said the release.

During the drive, 81 e-tickets valued at Rs 1.52 lakh were recovered from touts. Cash, mobile phones, CPUs, printer, laptop, reservation forms, visiting cards, diaries, registers and books containing passenger details were also seized from them, it said.
