The year-long 40th anniversary celebrations of Dr MCR HRD Institute of Telangana concluded with Minister for Finance & Planning Eatala Rajender inaugurating the Centre for Telangana Studies on Sunday. The minister also inaugurated a 40-year pylon, unveiled a portrait of Dr Marri Channa Reddy and felicitated outstanding former employees of the Institute in recognition of their significant contributions.
Speaking on the occasion, Eatala Rajender said mere availability of human resources was not sufficient and their effective utilization, through high quality training, holds the key for the growth of the economy both at State and nation. He said imparting the right set of ethical and moral values, as a part of all training programs, is of great importance for taking the society in the right direction. He urged the Centre for Telangana Studies to contribute not only to the capacity building of employees, but also that of elected representatives.
A K Goel, IAS (Retd.), Advisor to Government, Planning & Energy, called upon the Centre for
Telangana Studies to produce transformational leaders for the larger good of the State. He said
he wisdom of those who have participated in the Telangana movement during the last six decades
was of great help in achieving the cherished goal.
G R Reddy, IES (Retd.), Advisor to Government, Finance, said there was a huge diversity across districts and mandals in terms of key human development indices. He advised the Centre for
Telangana Studies to take up research studies to explore the determinants of this diversity and come
out with enduring solutions. “While many a research centre work in isolation, the proactive support of
the Government is a great competitive advantage of the Centre for Telangana Studies”, he observed.
B P Acharya, IAS, Special Chief Secretary, Planning & Director General of the Institute, said for the officers, faculty, staff and trainees of Dr MCR HRD Institute of Telangana, the year-long celebration was an opportunity to pause, relook, rethink, and rededicate themselves to the pursuit of excellence in imparting training to government employees to serve the society with competence and commitment.
Vinod K Agrawal, IAS (Retd.), former Director General of the Institute, said while Dr MCR HRD Institute is a name to reckon with at the national level, it has already made its presence felt at international level too through engagement with Indian Mission to ASEAN, Jakarta and signing MoUs with such global players as Georgetown University, Washington, Redberri Corporation, St. Louis, USA and so on.
