Elections 2019: WhatsApp soon to roll out this new exciting ‘feature’

New Delhi: With Lok Sabha Elections just around the corner, Social media giants that have come under the scanner to implement measures that would stop the circulation of fake news on social networking apps, messaging app WhatsApp seems to hold some good news coming.

The instant messaging giant is testing a new feature that could play a key role that shall allow it’s users to search for an image on the web in the chat, GadgetsNow reports.

According to reports from WaBetaInfo which tracks upcoming features in WhatsApp, the instant messaging app “is developing a new feature that allows searching an image on the Web that you sent/received in your chats.”

The users will now be able to check the authenticity of the images they receive or send.

The platform further explained a separate tab called “Search Image” will appear in the chat window which enables users to find out the source of the image.

WhatsApp, as per WaBetaInfo, already uses Google’s Application Programme Interface or commonly known as APIs to “find similar or equal images on the Web.”

Clicking on the search Image option after receiving Image, WhatsApp will open Google browser to show the results this would enable the Users to understand if the images, news shared carries any authenticity.

So far the feature is in testing mode and soon the shall be rolled out soon with elections just around the corner.
