Eminent personalities attend Congress Iftar party

Eminent religious, political and media personalities attended the Iftar party hosted by Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) at Red Rose Palace on Sunday evening.

Mohtamim of Jamia Nizamia Moulana Fasiuddin addressed on the importance of Ramzan while Imam of Mecca Masjid Moulana Md Rizwan Qureshi offered dua and also led Maghrib prayers.

Speaking on the occasion, Leader of Opposition in Legislative Council Mohammed Ali Shabbir stressed on the importance of promoting communal harmony in the country. He said that the BJP-led NDA Government at the Centre has been trying to incite communal hatred in the country by raising contentious issues like Common Civil Code. However, he said that a majority of people in the country were secular-minded and they would foil the attempts of communal forces to disturb the atmosphere. He also highlighted the achievements of previous Congress Governments and said that the party has empowered the Muslim community by giving them reservation.

TPCC President N. Uttam Kumar Reddy, in his speech, said that the Congress party was true representative of Muslims in the country. He said of nearly 430 Muslim MLAs in the country, 70 belong to Congress. Of 23 Muslim MPs in Lok Sabha, four belong to Congress and Congress has 10 Muslim MPs in Rajya Sabha. He said the statistics clearly show that Congress was a truly secular and pro-minorities party. He also slammed Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao for not fulfilling the promise of 12% Muslim reservation. KCR had promised to give 12% reservation within four months after coming to power, but he failed to honour his promise even after 25 months. He hoped that the Eid-ul-Fitr would bring happiness not only for the people of Telangana, but entire world.

AICC Secretary R.C. Khuntia wished the Muslims a happy Eid-ul-Fitr and prayed that the atmosphere of communal harmony and tolerance stays in the country. He praised the TPCC for organising the Iftar party to convey the message of peace and brotherhood.

Leader of Opposition in Assembly K Jana Reddy, PAC Chairman Dr. J. Geetha Reddy, Congress MPs Palvai Govardhan Reddy and M.A. Khan, ex-MPs V Hanumantha Rao and M. Anjan Kumar Yadav, TPCC Working President Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, TPCC Vice-Presidents Dr. Mallu Ravi and Abid Rasool Khan, senior leaders Danam Nagender, Marri Sashidhar Reddy, Gudur Narayan Reddy, former MPs, legislators and leaders of all frontal organisations also participated in the Iftar party. TPCC Minorities Department chairman Mohammed Fakhruddin, GHCC Minorities Dept chairman Shaik Abdullah Sohail and other leaders were also present.

Siasat Urdu Daily News Editor Amer Ali Khan, MBT President Majeedullah Khan Farhat, Tahreek Muslim Shabban president Mohammed Mushtaq Mallik, representatives of Jamaat-e-Islami, Jamaiat-ul-Ulema, prominent Ulema, Mashaiqeen and other personalities from various fields were also present. Prominent Shia scholars Moulana Qazi Jaffer Hussain Khilji and Moulana Syed Ifteqar AliĀ  Razvi also participated in the Congress party’s Iftar party.

The guests were served Haleem, Biryani and other delicacies of Hyderabad in the Iftar party. (INN)
