Engineering and Pharmacy education deteriorating in Telangana

Hyderabad: In Telangana State, Engineering education is deteriorating. All India Council for Technical Education, New Delhi slashed down more than 13000 Engineering seats which mean that there would be fewer admissions in engineering courses for the year 2017-18.

It is reported that 27 private Engineering Colleges have not been given permission to admit candidates during 2017-18. In the year 2016-17, the number of engineering colleges was 277 which would be reduced to 250 this year.

It may be mentioned that during the past three years, more than 53000 seats have been reduced in Engineering Colleges.

The situation in Pharmacy education is no different from it. In 2015-16, there were 155 private colleges of pharmacy, now this number has been reduced to 144. Since the academic year 2015-16, more than 5,800 pharmacy seats have been slashed down. With the affiliation of pharmacy courses with JNTU-H, seats in pharmacy colleges have been reduced.
