ETV launches News 18 Assam/North­East channel in Assam

Guwahati : ETV news network has launched one regional channel by the name of News 18 Assam/North East.

The channel was launched amid a colourful program headed by Union Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. Assam Chief Minister Sarbanand Sonowal was also present at the occasion. Apart from those, union ministers Mahesh Sharma and Ram Kripal were also present at the program.

This channel can be seen in the eight states of the north-east region. Bulletins in Assamese and English and news related to entertainment and sports will be aired on this channel.

Dharmendra Pradhan said that people have huge expectations from ETV news network and News 18 will succeed in showing the diversities of Assam to the country.

Pradhan appealed to the ETV news network to aware the nation about the tourism potential of Assam. Addressing the occasion, Pradhan said that there are lots of opportunities in Assam and soon there will be a huge expansion of resources in the state.

He also assured the people of Assam that central government will soon provide the state with what it deserves. The Union Petroleum Minister promised that centre will provide 15 lakh LPG connections to the houses of poor in next three years and this initiative will begin from Majuli.

Minister of State for civil aviation, tourism and culture Dr. Mahesh Sharma thanked the ETV news network for starting News 18 Assam/North East from the entrance gate of North East India i.e. Guwahati. Sharma introduced the people about the work done by the tourism and culture department for the North East region.

He informed that central government has given 130 crores to Guwahati. He further informed that soon two new airports including one in Dibrugadh will be started in North East which will help in the development of the region.

The minister said that media works as a bridge between culture and tradition. He expressed his hope that News 18 will stand up to the expectations of the people and he is sure about that.

Sonowal, on his part, congratulated ETV news network and expressed his hope that News 18 Assam/North East channel will rightfully do its duties.

He promised that he will try to stand up to the expectations for which the people of Assam gave him their mandate.

Addressing the occasion, ETV news network head Jagdeesh Chandra said that News 18 Assam/North East is with the path of development initiated by the government.

Hailing the Assam Government, the Network head said that people have chosen this government with great expectations and network head has full faith that this government will stand up to the expectations of people. (ANI)
