Ex-police inspector killed in clash over minor issue

New Delhi: A retired police inspector was killed allegedly in a clash between two groups over a petty issue in Mahendra village in Ghazipur, police said on Saturday.

Mainuddin Khan (60) went to one Niyaz Khan’s house last night and complained about his goat entering the former’s agriculture field, they said.

An argument broke out between Mainuddin and Niyaz over the issue following which their lathi-wielding supporters clashed with each other, police said.

Mainuddin, who was hit on the head, was rushed to a local hospital where he died during treatment, they said.

The body has been sent for postmortem, police said, adding a probe is underway in the matter.
