Exploring the possibilities of enactment on reservations

Hyderabad: Govt. of Telangana is exploring the possibilities of enacting the laws to provide 12% reservation to Muslims and STs. Govt. sources indicated that although Govt. has started preparations for passing two separate bills in Assembly but no final decision has yet been taken.

Mr. KCR consulted various legal experts but no decision was taken either to enact a law or pass a resolution in Assembly. There is a possibility of presenting two separate bills in the Assembly in the current or budget session.

BCs Commission has made all the arrangements to present its recommendations for enhancement of reservations for Muslims but it has not taken an appointment with CMO. Sources at BCs Commission indicated that it is ready to present a report to CM within two days.

It may be mentioned that Chellappa Commission has already submitted its recommendations to the Govt. for the enhancement of reservations for ST. Sudhir Commission of Inquiry had submitted its recommendations earlier. Since a recommendation is mandatory from BCs Commission for providing reservation to Muslims, Govt. constituted BCs Commission with instructions to present the report shortly.

Govt. wants that through the enactment of laws in the Assembly, Center would be requested to get the enhanced reservations included in the IX Schedule of Constitution of India so that the promises made by TRS Govt. during its election campaign would be fulfilled.

Central Govt. has already indicated its negative attitude for enhancing the quota.
