Election of TRS leader Mohammed Fareeduddin as the MLC is almost certain with no other candidate filing nomination on Monday, the last day to do so.
Fareeduddin filed his nomination papers on Monday in the presence of Deputy CM Mohammed Mahmood Ali, Home Minister Nayani Narasimha Reddy, Legislative Affairs Minister T. Harish Rao, MLC Farooq Hussain and other TRS leaders. Speaking to media persons later, he thanked Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao for nominating him to the post.
The election for the MLC seat was necessitated after Minister T Nageshwar Rao quit as MLC after winning the Palair bye-election.
Fareeduddin is the only candidate in the race and he will now be declared elected officially by the Election Commission on October 17, the last date for withdrawal from the poll race. (INN)
