The case was registered yesterday on a complaint of Nambardar (revenue official) Baljinder Singh of village Uchapind, police said today.

They said the case was registered against Balbir Singh, Jasbir Singh, Kuldip Singh, Jagmohan Singh, who are relatives of the complainant. Another accused, Nirmal Singh of adjoining village Jagatpur Jattan was also booked.

All of them were booked under sections 420 (cheating), 465 (forgery), 468 (forgery for purpose of cheating), 471 (using as genuine a forged document) and 120-B (criminal conspiracy) of IPC, they said.

Baljinder Singh told police that his uncle Kapur Singh was unmarried and lived with his father Shivdev Singh.

As the family cared well for the uncle, he willed his 52 kanal and 14 marla (over 6 acres) land in the names of Baljinder Singh and his five brothers.

The will was duly registered, he said.

After Kapur died, the accused forged a will and forcibly occupied the land, alleged Baljinder Singh.

He alleged that he and his brothers were being threatened and thwarted from tilling the land in question.
