Former high jumper, Germaine Mason dies in a bike crash

Jamaica: Germaine Mason, a former high jumper died in a bike accident. The 34-year-old was born in Jamaica and moved to represent Great Britain in 2006. A news report of BBC claimed.

The athlete won a silver medal in 2008 Beijing Olympics. He also got Britain’s first athletic medal of the Beijing Games and was second after Russian Andrey Silnov. He managed 2.34m in his first attempt, after Silnov, who was the only athlete to clear 2.36m.

He earned world indoor bronze for Jamaica in 2003 and recovered after suffering a career-threatening knee injury in 2004.

Jamaica’s Prime minister, Andrew Holness tweeted “Our sincere condolences to the entire sporting fraternity,” several other sportspersons were grieved while tweeting.
