Four died, many hospitalized for want of toddy

In a bizarre incident, two women in Mahbubnagar district died due to non-availability of spurious toddy.

 

According to the information, the two women belonging to Guntapalli and Pulimamidi were addicted to spurious toddy. The reportedly fell ill as they could not get spurious toddy since four days. They breathed their last on Sunday.

 

Besides, some 30 toddy addicts were hospitalized in Mahbubnagar town and 16 in Jadcherla hospitals.

In Basara temple town of Adilabad district, two toddy addicts died and 60 others have taken ill due to non-availability of spurious toddy.

According to police, the Excise & Prohibition squads forced closure of toddy shops in the pilgrim town. As a result, two addicts died and 60 hospitalized in Basara. Two addicts were admitted to Nizamabad and Bhainsa Area hospitals. (NSS)
