Madurai: An unidentified gang kidnapped a 50-year-old cooperative bank official and robbed a bag containing Rs 3 lakh in cash at Katchirayanpatti near Melur today, about 30 km from here, police said.
According to a police complaint lodged by the Madurai District Cooperative Bank, Mannan was travelling on his bike when the gang members had come in a car and hit his vehicle.
He lost his balance in the impact and fell. The gang then pushed him into their car and took him to a secluded place.
Before dropping him at Kachirayan Patti in the district, the gang took away the cash bag.
