Gayle leaves IPL to attend birth of first child

Mumbai: West Indies swashbuckling opener Chris Gayle is likely to miss Royal Challengers Bangalore’s next two games as he has flown back to Jamaica to be with his partner for the birth of their first child.

The 37-year-old explosive southpaw posted a picture on his Instagram page stating ‘I’m on my way Baby’.

Gayle has so far failed to click in the ongoing ninth edition of the Indian Premier League, scoring one and a duck in the first two matches. He would be hoping fatherhood can change his fortunes when he returns sometime next week.

The Royal Challengers will next play against defending champions Mumbai Indians at Wankhede Stadium on Wednesday. (ANI)
