Geelani visit to Pak will help project Kashmiris’ voice, says Pak MEA

Pakistan Ministry of External Affairsspokesperson Qazi Khaliullah on Thursday said the visit of All Parties Hurriyat Conference chairman Syed Ali Geelani to Islamabad on the invitation of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif would be “helpful in projecting the voice of Kashmiris in Pakistan and internationally”.

“Hurriyat is the main representative of the people of Jammu and Kashmir. Because of the political stature of Geelani, Prime Minister Sharif has invited him to visit Pakistan and exchange views on the current situation in Indian Occupied Kashmir,” saidQazi Khaliullah in response to a question that not allowing the Hurriyat chairman to visit Pakistan isn’t a violation of human rights?

When told that India is ready to engage with Pakistan in accordance with the Ufa understandings, which include talks between the National Security Advisors (NSAs) on terrorism related issues only, he said it is not advisable to have a selective approach to Ufa understandings.

“The Ufa Joint Press Release called for a comprehensive agenda, including discussion on all outstanding issues, counter terrorism, confidence building measures such as religious tourism, release of fishermen, peace and security at the line of control and working boundary and cooperation within the framework of SAARC. We have expressed our willingness to hold talks with India if Kashmir is included in the agenda and no preconditions are set by India,” the spokesperson clarified. (ANI)
