Ghaziabad police to launch ‘Rules on the road’

Ghaziabad , July 08: Ghaziabad police will tomorrow launch ‘Rules on the Roads’ — a month-long awareness drive to create awareness among the people and streamline the unruly movement of traffic in the district.

According to Assistant Superintendent of Police Vipin Tada, who is the Nodal officer of the programme, during the programme police personnel will focus on violation of traffic rules, encroachments on the road by traders that causes traffic snarls, jumping of red lights by errant drivers, obstructive vehicle parking on busy roads.

Tada further said traffic congestion was the biggest problem in the district which was due to encroachments of road by shopkeepers and traders who showcase their goods for sale on the road sides.

Pedestrian movement is also obstructed on the road pavements.

Traffic police will also guide the vehicle owners to respect the right of pedestrians to have free movement on the ‘Zebra crossings’.

Errant vehicle drivers will be prosecuted for flouting traffic rules, Officer added.
