Hyderabad: GHMC Commissioner Dr. B. Janardhan Reddy said that the corporation would strive hard to collect Property Tax of Rs. 450 crore till this month-end to achieve its target of collection of Rs. 1100 crore during the financial year 2015-16.
The GHMC Commissioner said that the corporation has so far collected nearly Rs. 650 crore. He said it would be essential for the GHMC to collect another Rs. 450 crore in the next 30 days to achieve the set target. He appealed all the tax payers not to wait for the payment of Property Tax dues till the last day and pay it on immediate basis. The GHMC has deputed Supervisory Officer for every circle to improve Property Tax collection. The corporation has so far identified top 1,000 defaulters and the Supervisory Officers have been assigned the task of realizing huge dues from them.
Dr. Janardhan Reddy said that the GHMC was concentrating more on hotels, business establishments, cinema halls and shopping malls, to collect the Property Tax dues on priority basis. He said he was personally monitoring with all the Zonal and Deputy Commissioners and every day tele-conference was also being held for better coordination.
The GHMC has also taken up the Property Tax Parishkaram programme at all circle offices, especially Sundays and public holidays from 10 AM to 1 PM to dispose of all the pending cases pertaining to property tax, court cases, mutations, revision petitions etc., In the month of March, the GHMC will hold Property Tax Parishkaram on 6th, 13th, 20th, and 27th in all circle offices. The tax payers have been asked to come forward on these days and avail the opportunity to clear their grievances pertaining to property tax.
The Commissioner said that the GHMC has made elaborate arrangements for payment of Property Tax in all the 537 branches in GHMC limits and also at circle offices through citizen service centres, 81 Mee seva, 340 hand bill machines have been provided. The GHMC has taken up publicity campaign for the payment of property tax through hoardings, jingles, TV scrolls, cinema slides to create awareness about the payment of property tax by the tax payers in the entire GHMC jurisdiction.
