GHMC chief directs staff to ensure proper lifting of garbage

Hyderabad: GHMC Commissioner Dr. B. Janardhan Reddy made a surprise visit to Circle 10B in the early hours of Saturday.

During interaction with the sanitation workers, he learnt about the shortage of broom sticks. He immediately directed the concerned Deputy Commissioner and AMOH to simply the procurement process. He also observed that the sanitation sweepers were sweeping the roads and gathering the waste at the few points where the garbage is being not lifted regularly by the tricycle person. The Commissioner then instructed the Sanitary Field Assistant to ensure the garbage is picked properly on regular basis.

The Commissioner has also observed that auto tippers were not properly distributed. He asked the officials to coordinate with the Head Office and deploy the auto-tippers on need basis. He also warned of action if auto-tippers were misused. He asked the officials to involved local RWAs and leaders to create awareness among public to pay the remuneration to local garbage pickers.

The Commissioner instructed the AMOH and DMC to personally monitor door to door garbage collection and impart proper training to the tipper drivers, SFAs and Swachh volunteers. (INN)
