GHMC cracks whip on hotels in Hyderabad, fines 15

Hyderabad: Continuing their raids on hotels and restaurants for unstamped meat and unhygienic conditions, for the second consecutive day, health officials of Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation inspected 27 hotels and imposed fines on 15 of them for procuring meat from illegal slaughter houses.

According to the report published in Deccan Chronicle, Hotel Amaravathi at Nagole was fined Rs 30,000 for not purchasing stamped meat from the GHMC slaughter house and poor freezer maintenance, while Vennela Bar & Restaurant was seized due to unhygienic conditions. After finding stale food items and meat, the hotel management was also fined Rs 40,000 as penalty.

Poor maintenance of the premises cost dear to Hotel Dolphin, located in Malkajgiri which was penalised Rs 20,000.

A penalty of Rs. 10,000 was imposed on Pakwan restaurant located at Gachibowli, circle 11, for using unstamped meat. Its owner was also prosecuted under Section 548, 596, 487 of the GHMC Act 1955.

53 cases were booked by the mobile courts of the Municipal Corporation and a fine of Rs. 20000 was collected by them.
