GHMC elections: Exit polls predict TRS victory, MIM a distant second

An exit poll after 45 percent turnout in the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) elections places the TRS on pole position.

According to the TV9, TRS will bag the most seats followed by AIMIM and the TDP-BJP combine.

TRS: 78- 82 seats
MIM: 35-49 seats
TDP+BJP: 26-33
Congress: 8-10 seats
others: 1-3 seats

NTV news, also conducted a poll with similar rankings but different figures.

TRS: 75-85 seats
MIM: 40-45 seats
BJP-TDP: 20-25 seats
Congress: 10-12 seats
others: 0-3 seats

The voting which took place till Tuesday evening passed peacefully barring a few events.

Tension prevailed most at Mir Chowk after TPCC President Uttam Kumar Reddy’s car was attacked by MIM activists, following a clash with Congress supporters.

The Telangana State Election Commission (TSEC) issued orders restricting on publication and dissemination of result of opinion poll and exit polls for the ensuing GHMC polls on February 2.

The ban was lifted with the completion of the voting process on Tuesday evening.

The counting of votes will be taken up on February 5, following which the results will be announced.
