The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) is planning to take up the installation of Roof Top Grid, connected with solar power generation plant, in phased manner. Primarily, 44 buildings out of 942 have been selected for installation of Grid connected solar roof top.
The proposed Roof Top Grids will be installed on GHMC owned buildings and the power generated would be used for GHMC office buildings, water works and street lights. Such buildings include GHMC head office, zonal offices, stadiums, slaughter houses, etc., GHMC had Called for Express Of Interest (EOI) and two bidders M/s. TUV South Asia Pvt Limited and M/s. The energy and Resources institute were declared qualified.
The GHMC is expecting to generate about 5 MW through these Solar Roof Top Grids and could save an average of Rs. 52.50 Lakh per month towards power charges. (INN)
