GHMC intensifies crackdown against illegal slaughter, 2 booked

Hyderabad: Veterinary officials of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) booked two persons for illegal slaughtering near Sunam Cheruvu Lake in Allapur on Sunday and confiscated illegally slaughtered meat.

They acted upon a complaint received by local residents. Md. Ismail and Md. Rasool were allegedly slaughtering buffaloes, sheep and goats near the water body.

As reported by The Hindu, west zone officials confiscated 60 kilograms beef, 12 kg meat, one buffalo hide and 10 sheep hides from the spot.

The offenders were booked for illegally slaughtering animals in a residential area, posing risk to public health, creating unhygienic conditions and causing nuisance to the neighbours.

A fine of Rs. 3,000 was imposed on them.
