GHMC nets Rs 65-cr tax in old currency in two days

GHMC has received Rs 65-crore revenue during the last two days following facilities extended to accept old currency of Rs 500 and Rs 1000.

So far, 30,000 people have paid property tax using old notes. On Friday,  the GHMC received Rs 55 crore taxes while on Saturday it collected Rs 10 crore. Of the total property tax payers, 21,000 people come under slab of below Rs 10,000 property tax, 6,854 under Rs 10,000 to 50,000, 1193 people under Rs 50,000 to Rs one lakh, 655 people under Rs one lakh to Rs 2 lakh, 288 people Rs 2 lakh to Rs 5 lakh, 38 people of five lakh and above slabs.

The GHMC is expected more revenue as the State government has extended accepting of old notes of Rs 500 and Rs 1000 till Monday. The GHMC Commissioner appealed to citizens to use the facility to pay their property tax without fine. (NSS)
