GHMC plans to set up 1,000 e-Libraries


GHMC Commissioner and Special Officer Somesh Kumar on Wednesday informed that the corporation was planning to set up 1,000 e-Libraries in its limits. In the first phase, 500 e-Libraries will be opened in different parts of the city.

A model e-Library at the GHMC Head Office was inspected by the Commissioner on Wednesday. After the inspection, the GHMC Commissioner said that the main aim of the GHMC was to open 1,000 e-Libraries in the coming days. He said, so far, the GHMC has received 600 applications and a few places have already been identified to open e-Libraries.

For the e-Libraries, the GHMC is arranging furniture, two computers, books, newspapers, etc., It is also planning to involve Residential Welfare Association and NGOs for maintenance etc.,

Somesh Kumar, along with Special Commissioner Navin Mittal, also held a review meeting with all the Deputy Commissioners, Zonal Commissioners with regard to e-Libraries, gyms, etc., (INN)
