Kathua (PTI) The students of the Government Girls Higher Secondary School here today boycotted their classes and came on streets protesting against the shortage of teaching staff in their school.

“The girl students protested against the education department against the shortage of teaching staff in their school,” a police officer said.

The students also blocked the college road at Shaheedi chowk here and raised anti-government and anti-education department slogans, police said.

The students alleged that on one hand the state government has been trying to promote education in the district, but on the other it was not providing adequate staff in school.

“There is shortage of teachers of Mathematics, Urdu, Geography, Dogri, Science and other subjects for the past three months,” one of the protesting student said.
