Govt. appoints 7 VCs of Universities

Hyderabad: Govt. had issued the orders of appointments of Seven Vice Chancellors in the state but seeing the wrath of the High Court, these orders were withheld. The appointment orders of the three Vice Chancellors were released yesterday.

Prof. S. Ramachandran Principal University College of Engineering has been appointed VC of Osmania University. It may be mentioned that some professors of Osmania and JNTU had filed writ petition in the High Court that the Govt. is delaying the appointments of VCs in the state. This writ was pending with the High Court. When the orders of appointment of Seven VCs were issued, High Court express its wrath.

It contended that there has no hurry for the State Govt. to accelerate the appointments of VCs when the writ is pending. Govt. had appointed Prof. A. Venugopala Reddy as VC of JNTU, Prof. S.V. Satyanarayana as VC of Telugu University, Prof. B. Sambaiah as VC of Kakatiya University, Prof. K. Sitarama Rao as VC of Ambedkar University.

The tenure of office of all these VCs would be three years.
