Govt celebrates Teachers Day-Regularization of teachers via roaster: Kadiam

Telangana Government today conducted Teachers Day Celebrations in a grand manner across the state to mark the birth anniversary of former President of India Dr Sarvepally Radhakrishnan.

During the celebrations at Ravindra Bharathi here on Saturday, Deputy Chief Minister and Education Minister K Srihari, Home Minister N Narsimha Reddy, Roads and Buildings Minister T Nageshwar Rao and others participated. Speaking on the occasion, Srihari stated that roaster process will be adopted to regularize the contract teachers. He also said that KG to PG scheme will be implemented from next academic year in English medium on par with CBSE standards. On a pilot basis, every segment will have an institution, and 1190 Gurukul centers will be set up to teach from 5th to Intermediate, he said. The Government will recruit 8000 teachers after rationalization and transfers and appoint 8000 educational volunteers soon. Srihari asked the teaching community to inculcate the students with thorough knowledge, English, skills and values.

However, in a surprise comment, the Home Minister reprimanded the teachers of government schools for poor standards and quality when compared to private schools and institutions. It is a shame on the part of the government teachers who should rethink on updating themselves to prepare the students to surpass those of the private schools, he added.

Later, the ministers gave away awards to 71 teachers for their services in various educational institutions from schools, colleges, universities, polytechnic and other institutions. (NSS)
